In 1988, May 7th was announced before Congress as National Homebrew Day. The American Homebrewers Association created Big Brew as an annual event to celebrate National Homebrew Day around the world. Big Brew is always held on the first Saturday in May. Homebrew clubs and individuals get together all across the globe to brew beer and celebrate the hobby of homebrewing.
If you are new to or interested in home-brewing, this is a great event to come to since you’ll be able to watch multiple people brew beer from start to finish, check out their various setups and pick up some tips & tricks. We’ll also have a bottle share going as well, so if nothing else, stop on by to share some homebrew or commercial beer and feel free to bring your own to share. Not required though, since there is usually more than enough to go around.
Big Brew 2021 will be hosted by Scott Walker this year – check your email for location details. There will be smoked meats, Kentucky Derby viewing, and room in the garage/driveway to brew your own beer so feel free to pull out your system and put a recipe together. You can bring a small snack/dish to share if you want, but there is usually more than enough food.
When: Saturday, May 1, 2021: 10 AM – 6 PM
Who: Anybody is welcome.
