The July 2020 meeting will be held 100% outside at Pig Minds Brewery. Seating and tables will not be provided so we ask that everybody bring their own chair. If you plan on getting food to go and eating outside or if having a table just warms your heart, you can bring your own table as well. There will be no $2 fee to sample the beers. There will also be no 50/50 raffle. If you have cash that you were really hoping to spend, feel free to tip the Pig Minds staff a little bit more.
Since we'll be outside and light will be an issue and since Pig Minds closes at 9pm, we'll have a hard out at 9pm. So the meeting will start at 7pm sharp since we have a lot to get caught up on. If you normally like to hang out after the meeting and have a beer or get some food, we suggest that you plan on doing that prior to the meeting. A couple of the officers and probably other members will be there early around 5:30pm - 6:00pm, so feel free to show up early, enjoy some food and grab a pint.
All other details are noted below:
Homebrew Samples: Homebrew samples are welcomed and highly encouraged to bring for sharing. All that beer you'd been hoarding for the past 3 months, load it up in a cooler and bring it along. However, the officers have decided that for this meeting, there will be no style or open table contest. So no voting, no contest points accrued, and no cash awards handed out. We do plan on continuing the brewer of the year contests later this year though and we'll discuss that at the meeting. All homebrew samples will be poured by the brewer so there will be no community table that houses all the beers. There will also be no community pretzel bowl. If you wish to bring your own snacks for palate cleansing, you're more than welcome to do so. We will be providing sample cups, a rinsing station, and a dump bucket.
Location: Outside, specifically, the west side of the brewery by the large garage doors. We're not sure if we will be on pavement, grass, or a mixture of both. If you're somebody that likes to plan for the elements, it might not be a bad idea to throw a light coat and a can of OFF in your car. And probably don't wear your fancy shoes since they might get a little dusty or dirty.
Facemasks: If you're outside in the FCB designated area, facemasks won't be required. However, Pig Minds does require that you wear a facemask when you are in a public area of their brewery. So if you plan on going inside to use the bathroom or to order some food or beer, we ask that you respect their policy and wear a facemask. As this is a Forest City Brewers sponsored event, any action or non-action in this case will reflect back on the club.
Parking: We're not sure how busy Pig Minds will be on a Wednesday night, but if you show up and the parking lot is almost full we ask that you try to park along the street or in another overflow parking area. Let's try to leave the prime parking spaces for regular Pig Mind customers, especially since they have customers that will be coming only to pick up take out orders. And if you can carpool, even better.
